Love the Mountains? 3 Ideas for a Poconos Getaway
Whether you are from the Northeast or not, most of the nation has heard about the Pocono Mountains. For years, it has been a top destination for those who are looking to get away from it all and enjoy a slice of paradise amongst the trees. We at Ledges Hotel are so fortunate to get to live here and love sharing our area with travelers. You might be thinking that now would be the perfect time for a Poconos getaway, but you aren’t quite sure how to plan it out. Well, we have 3 ideas that we think could be ideal for you for a Poconos getaway. Let’s check them out!
An Outdoors Poconos Getaway
For some of us, we love being outside whenever we have time off. Here in the Pocono Mountains, you will be amazed at all of the wonderful outdoors sights that you can see. We have state parks and trails just waiting to be discovered. First on our list is Promised Land State Park. This park is about 3,000 acres in size and then surrounded by over 12,000 acres in forests. In the warmer months, you can hike and bike and in the colder months lots of people enjoy ice fishing, ice skating, and cross-country skiing. At Promised Land, there are over 50 miles of trails to choose from and are well marked out. Be sure to visit their office to map out your hike. Our next suggestion is to take a waterfall tour. Our sister property, Settlers Inn, has compiled a well-thought out self-guided tour of our area’s waterfalls. This is a wonderful driving tour with many stops along the way. The reason why we have so many beautiful waterfalls is because of the tributaries flowing down from the Delaware River. Lastly, if you love an adventure then we suggest heading to Skytop Lodge’s Adventure Center. They have rock climbing, zip line and challenge course and paintball. Their wonderful staff can help you book your adventure and ensure you will have a great time!
A His & Hers Couples Poconos Getaway
In our lives, we meet other couples that we just click with. Anytime you are together you always have a great time and sometimes you will even travel together. This can be a great time to let the guys do their thing and the gals do theirs. For this type of Poconos getaway we suggest the guys hitting the golf course and the ladies staying in Hawley and exploring the shops. We suggest Woodloch Springs Golf Club. Their par-72 18 hole course will challenge every golfer who steps onto the green. It has been awarded many times as a “rare find” and would be a fun way to spend a morning. For the ladies, we suggest heading to the Hawley Silk Mill. There are shops, eateries, art galleries, and more. Start with a delicious cup of coffee and meander you way around to the many shops offered at the Hawley Silk Mill.
An Explorer’s Poconos Getaway
While some of us may be content to stay in the town we have chosen for our trip, some of us just have to get out and see more. Here in our area of the Pocono Mountains we have 3 amazing towns close by that are perfect for exploring. First up is Honesdale. They have a variety of shops, galleries, and restaurants to choose from as well as town-wide events. Be sure to check out their page to find out more. Another great town is Milford. One place we highly recommend in Milford to visit is Forest Hall Antiques. They have been around since 1966 and offer European, American, and Chinese antiques. They have everything from furniture to paintings and more. The last area is Bethel, New York which is home to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. They have wonderful events as well as an amazing Woodstock museum.
