Your Guide to Some of the Best Pocono Wineries

Here at Ledges Hotel, we not only love supplying local wines at our restaurant, Glass, we also love helping our guests go out and discover the best of our local Pocono wineries. Let us show you a handful of nearby Pocono wineries that would be a perfect day trip for you.

Before we get started, there is one site we would like to share with you, the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail. This fantastic site will help you become familiar with the wines that are here in the Pocono Mountains and the wineries that are a part of it. Be sure to check it out and use it as a jumping off point to make your own Pocono wineries itinerary.

Galen Glen Winery

This winery has been around for a long time although its current owners have taken the vines and brought them to another level. The staff at Galen Glen is like family and they work the land they have smartly and efficiently to produce the grapes they have today. Tastings there can be fun as well as absolutely beautiful. The types of wine they produce are, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Grüner Veltliner, Zweigelt, Cabernet Franc, and a Vidal Blanc Ice Wine. Tastings are available at the winery as well but before you go, be sure to check out their virtual tour!

Amore

Started humbly in 2000 with only 5.5 acres, Dr. Gregg Amore, the winemaker, wanted to make sure that everything that went into their amazing estate wines was perfect. This is another family run business that the community loves year round. Besides having wonderful wines, they have a local farm that you can get fruits and vegetables from as well as flowers, pumpkins in the fall and Christmas trees in the winter. For wines, you have a choice between Chardonnay, Grigio, Riesling, Rose wines, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sparkling wines, and more. Before you plan a trip to Amore, be sure to call for hours of operation.

Big Creek Vineyard

For this Pocono winery, you won’t have to travel very far to get a tasting. They offer tastings in the nearby town of Jim Thorpe rather than at the winery itself. However, if you would like, they do have winery hours as well. The staff at Big Creek love what wine at a dinner table can symbolize, a time of reflection. Where you have to stop eating to take a sip and in that sip you can take a moment of rest. They have a fantastic selection of a hybrid of American and European vines for you to choose from. Their wines include, Seyval, Muscat, Chardonnay, Rose, Frontenac, Pinot Noir, Regent, and Fruit Wines.

Franklin Hill Vineyards

This winery has a great story to it which still lends to the vibe that you feel when you visit it today. While there may have been grapes on the vine for years, the winery didn’t start until 1981 and it only began with a few gallons of wine. In the early days there would be a worn path from the grapes to the store and many times people would pull up in their cars and honk for service and enjoy a glass right after work. The casual atmosphere is what makes this winery so wonderful. They offer a large selection of white, red, and specialty wines, enough to please any palate.

Antler Ridge

When mentioning Pocono wineries, Antler Ridge is always on the list. One of the reasons why so many people like them is because they are easy to see and taste. They have multiple tasting rooms all over Pennsylvania where you can gather and try their wines. The staff at Antler Ridge is meticulous when it comes to their grapes, carefully selecting only the best. You will easily see why through their delicious wines and numerous awards. They have a host of reds, whites, and fruit wines that you can choose from.
