How to Make the Most Out of a Poconos Winter Getaway

Enjoy Winter Sports
Cross-Country Ski in Promised Land State Park
Once the snow blankets the ground, it’s time to enjoy winter sports in the Poconos! Consider going on a cross-country or snowshoeing excursion. Promised Land State Park features some excellent trails. In total, there are about 50 miles of trails from which to choose. When you’re in the park, head to the Bruce Lake Natural Area and Conservation Island, which has the best selection of trails. Plus, you can rent snowshoes from the park office. Simply bring your photo ID and, as long as there are at least six inches of snow on the ground, you’re good to go! Rentals are available from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Ski Big Bear
If you’re planning a ski trip to the Poconos, then you’ll want to visit Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain. They offer a variety of lessons and ski packages that are ideal for your whole family. They also have fantastic cross-country ski trails and tube rentals available.
Visit Skytop Lodge Adventure Center
If you’re traveling with a group and are searching for a variety of activities, the Skytop Lodge Adventure Center is perfect for you! They offer ice skating, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, snowshoeing, and tobogganing. You can easily spend a full day exploring the 5,500 acres of fun!
Attend Hawley Winterfest
The famous Hawley Winterfest returns December 9-11. This amazing annual town-wide festival features fun cold-weather events, like horse and carriage rides, a yearly concert and holiday artisan fairs. Ledges Hotel and some of our sister properties also participate in Hawley Winterfest. On Saturday, guests can come to Glass – wine. bar. kitchen. for our Winterfest Rockin’ Christmas event! Pair a delicious seasonal dinner with live music from John Curtin. Check out the Sculpted Ice Bar outside the Hawley Silk Mill. It’s open all weekend. In the morning on December 10 and 11, head to The Settlers Inn for a delicious brunch!
