All of us at Ledges Hotel love supporting and attending the festival every year. Not familiar with the Black Bear Festival? Let us show you why this festival has quickly become a beloved event every fall.

About the Black Bear Film Festival

This year’s Black Bear Film Festival is October 18-20 in Milford, PA. The mission of the film festival is to appreciate and support independent film-makers. This festival is not a competition, just a showing of amazing films. The creators of the festival wanted a way to not only showcase independent films but also celebrate Milford as a place that has been used a countless number of times as a filming location. Lastly, they want to preserve it for future film lovers.

Films at the Black Bear Film Festival

The board that runs the festival is still accepting submissions for this year’s festival. The Black Bear Film Festival accepts submissions from artists all over the world. As always, the board encourages locals to also submit films. When applying, there are a few categories to choose from. First is age. These would be youth and college. Next is location. A local film must be produced in Pennsylvania. If not, it is a Feature Length/ Short. This is determined by running time. Anything 49 minutes and under is a short. Anything 50 minutes and over is a Feature Length.

Since the board is still accepting submissions, the calendar of events has not yet been released.  The Black Bear Film Festival showings are held in twp theaters. The main stage showings are held at the Milford Theater and the others are held at The Salon at the New Milford Branch of the Pike County Library.
