Go Ice Fishing on Lake Wallenpaupack

There’s a reason Lake Wallenpaupack has been named one of the top spots for ice fishing in the state! This 5,700-acre lake features plenty of bass, trout, perch, and varieties of panfish under its frozen shell. Before you head out on the ice, be sure to purchase a Pennsylvania fishing license, and check the level of the ice. February is usually the best time to go ice fishing in Hawley, especially around the Wally Ice Fest!

Attend the Wally Ice Fest

Celebrate winter fun in the Pocono Mountains at Wally Ice Fest! This weekend-long event features hockey, curling, ice sculptures, and a golf tournament on the ice. The festival takes place from February 8 and 9, 2020 in front of our sister property, Silver Birches Resort.

During the festival, head over to Sculpted Ice Works to tour the facility’s museum and get a look at the incredible creations. You can also catch a curling demonstration during the weekend. Keep an eye on the festival’s schedule so you don’t miss out on any of the fun!

The festival tournaments are always a huge draw for the festival. There will be a hockey tournament on both days on four different ice rinks, two of which are in front of Silver Birches Resort. Stop by any of the rinks to check out the competition. The second tournament is the Ice Tee Golf Tournament. Two nine-hole courses will be set up in front of Silver Birches Resort, each with tree-line fairways, greens, water traps, obstacles, and roughs. Tee times begin at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday.
