Ready for Some Delaware River Tubing?
While we all are very excited about the coming of spring, one of the aspects of it that we all complain about is the heat. There is no escaping it, unless you want to spend your summer time indoors which is never fun for too long. Here at Ledges Hotel in the Pocono Mountains, we always try and help steer our guests towards the best activities for them. Since we are so close to not only Lake Wallenpaupack but the Delaware River as well, one way to beat the heat is to go for a dip in either. While Lake Wallenpaupack is great for cruising around, Delaware River tubing is the best for not only keeping cool but having a great adventure.
There are a couple of great Delaware River tubing companies in our area that not only specialize in Delaware River tubing but also all sorts of water sports on the Delaware River. The first is Kittatinny Canoes. Depending on which water activities you choose is where you will go for your trip. For Delaware River tubing, you will start off at the River Beach Campsites in Milford, PA, or in Barryville, NY, both are just a short drive from us at Ledges Hotel. One of the top tips for finding any of their locations is to map out your route before you go since GPS may not have the best routes and cell phone reception can be spotty. Their Delaware River tubing trips can last anywhere from 2 to 3 hours and are 3 miles. When you are done with your trip you will land where you met them and from there you can dry off and change clothes. Since these trips last a few hours, it’s best to do them after lunch, during the hottest part of the day, so you will maximize the coolness of the river and the relaxation of the floating. Tickets are $26 per person and include everything that you will need. Reservations are strongly recommended.
Another wonderful Delaware River tubing company is Lander’s River Trips. Located in Narrowsburg, NY, Lander’s provides another kind of Delaware River tubing trip. They have 3 options to choose from which can tailor your trip to your tastes. The shortest trip, and easiest to do over and over again is Skinner’s Falls. This is just 1/4 mile that involves some rapids and you can enjoy this stretch all day for $12. Next is Skinner’s Falls to Narrowsburg. This trip is the longest and most relaxing as it is 5 miles and the only one who works is the river. This Delaware River tubing trip can take up to 5 hours so it really can be a perfect day spent on the river. This trip is $26 and also includes a shuttle to get you back. Lastly, if you are looking for something in the middle, the best option for you is the Minisink to Wild & Scenic trip. This Delaware River tubing trip is an 1.5 to 2 hour 1.5 mile trip that have a great mix of rapids and floating. This trip is $26 and also includes a shuttle.
Whichever of these Delaware River tubing companies you choose, you will have a great time. One of the best parts about floating down the river is that you will get to experience all of our gorgeous countryside. Another wonderful place to experience it is at our Ledges Hotel.
