Summer is in full swing here in Hawley, PA. One of our most anticipated summer events is Wally Lake Fest. This 2 day festival celebrates everything Lake Wallenpaupack and stretches throughout the entire Lake Region. It will be the 5th year of the Wally Lake Fest and is set for August 22-24. The coordinators are working overtime to make sure that this is the best year yet. Last year they had over 50 events for the weekend as well as 10,000 people come to the area to celebrate. There are going to be a plethora of events to choose from for the weekend so here are some of the highlights.
There will be a few running events that should not be missed. For both days there will be an open market fair at the Lake Wallenpaupack Visitors Center and will feature local businesses and artists. Also throughout the weekend there will be a boat, watercraft, and ATV expo and open market fair at the Wallenpaupack High School.
The most awaited event of Wally Lake Fest is the boat parade on Lake Wallenpaupack. Sponsored by Chant Realtors, locals dress up their boats in hopes of winning one of the sought after prizes. On shore you can admire and choose your favorite boat and cheer for those who have won. Another much loved event is the Car Cruise. Take a stroll down memory lane with these immaculately restored cars.
A relatively new event for Wally Lake Fest, the battle of the bands, takes place at night on the lake. You have the option of enjoying the music on land or feel free to take your boat, kayak or paddle board out on the lake to listen to the bands.
On your down time there are a few ideas to help you fully take in the Pocono Mountains area. The first is to take in the natural sights and sounds of the Lake Region on land and on the water. Make sure you set some time aside to explore one of the many trails in the area. Another idea is to venture into downtown Hawley. The downtown area is thriving with many businesses and delicious eateries.
