When it comes to places to go on a vacation, there are lots of different types of places you could go. The most common two are the beach or the mountains. For those of us who are fortunate to live near either, like us at Ledges Hotel, we can’t help but want to share our love for our area with anyone and everyone. For those of you who don’t know where we are located, we are in the Pocono Mountains. Many of you will then ask, where are the Pocono Mountains? This is not only a great question but also a way for us to help you understand not only where the Pocono Mountains are but also some of the fun activities we have to do here.
The most simple answer to the question where are the Pocono Mountains is that the Pocono Mountains are located in the northeastern side of Pennsylvania. While the Pocono Mountains may be housed just in Pennsylvania, this area is also adjacent to New York and New Jersey which makes this section of Pennsylvania perfect for those who are looking for a quick getaway. There are four distinct seasons here in the Pocono Mountains for you to enjoy. Let’s have a look at some of the activities that you can enjoy while you are here.
Hiking: Hiking is something that is loved by all who come to the Pocono Mountains. We have many trails all over the area. One of the top places we at Ledges Hotel love to send people is the Delaware Water Gap. There are three sections of the park for you to go hiking on as well as two long trails that go through each of the sections. One of them is the famous Appalachian Trail. Their smaller trails go anywhere from less than a mile to about 8 miles and can be easy to difficult in rating. Also, be sure to have a look at what features these trails will show you.
Zip Lining: However, if you want to get a bigger view of the Pocono Mountains, we highly suggest going zip lining. This will allow you to see another side of our area that is simply stunning. One company we suggest is Kittatinny. They are known for not only having zip lining tours but canoe and white water rafting tours in the summers as well. At their zip line, drop about 36 stories from start to finish, enjoy views of the mountains as well as the Delaware River.
Water Activities: If you are looking to get on the water here in the Pocono Mountains, there are many things to do as well. We have Lake Wallenpaupack or the Delaware River near and from there you can fish, enjoy a boat ride, or in the summer go for a swim or a walk on the beaches.
