The Peak Time to See Pocono Mountains Fall Foliage

If you’re planning a trip to see the fall foliage, the first thing you should do is check out the Fall Foliage Forecast. Starting in September, this page updates a map of the three zones of the Pocono Mountains region by color so you can plan your visit. Ledges Hotel is located in the Central Region. Typically, the best time to see our foliage is the last week of September through the third week of October.

How to See the Fall Foliage

There’s no wrong way to admire the autumn beauty of the Pocono Mountains!

Take a Hike

Late September through mid-October is the perfect time to go for a hike. The weather is ideal: not too hot, not too cold. The Pocono Environmental Education Center (or PEEC) is a great place to hike as well as to learn about sustainable living and ways we can protect nature. There are six hiking trails available at the center. Visitors who want to leaf peep should follow the Scenic Gorge Trail. Your walk will last about an hour and will lead you through an open hardwood forest as well as a dark and cool hemlock canopy.

Go for a Drive

Another great way to leaf peep is by driving along one of the beautiful scenic routes in the area. PA Route 6, which is the road we suggest our visitors tour, has been ranked among the “Top Scenic Routes in America” by Car and Driver Magazine and as one of “Pennsylvania’s Best Tour Roads” by Harley-Davidson Company. We suggest you take Route 6 into Milford, PA, then get onto Route 209 to the Delaware Water Gap.

Sit and Relax

One of the best views of the fall foliage is right here at Ledges Hotel! Enjoy a drink at our in-house eatery, Glass- wine.bar.kitchen. while getting a great view of the Pocono Mountains. We also have decks overlooking the gorge that are perfect for leaf peeping. Many of our rooms also allow you to see the changing colors of the nearby trees.
